Some Windows 7 Systems Unable To Boot After Latest AVG Virus Definition Update

This isn’t the happiest news for Windows 7 and AVG users out there, but if you recently updated your antivirus program, you’ve probably noticed that you’re having issues getting your computer to start. AVG has confirmed that the latest virus database 271.1.1/3292 (432/3292) was causing an error and has since downgraded the update. Of course, if you’ve been hit by the issue, you’ll need to fix it and AVG is suggesting that users boot into Safe Mode and try a System Restore before the night of the AVG update. If you’re still having problems after performing a System Restore, you might want to check out the forum post (on a working computer, of course) and see if any of the tips there might help you get the issue sorted out. The error that users are encountering when they try to boot their computer reads:

“STOP: c0000135 The program can’t start because %hs is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
