Technicolor dives into Android tablet market with Media Touch 2.0 TVA200

The word “Technicolor” itself evokes a sense of wonder for those who grew up with black and white movies, as you will surely remember the first time your eyes feasted on shows that had shades of color that wowed you? Well, the company does more than just film processing, as they have just pushed their Media Touch 2.0 TVA200 Android tablet to the FCC, sporting a 7-inch 800 x 480 resolution capacitive touch screen display, a Freescale ARM Cortex A8 800MHz processor, a front facing camera (Skype video calls if possible, anyone?), Wi-Fi connectivity and optional 3G support. Why did Technicolor take the plunge anyways? Well, this was specially designed to integrate with various cable and IP services provided by local service providers.

Currently, Technicolor has already announced a partnership with PCCW, a quad-play service provider in Hong Kong. PCCW subscribers can rely on the Media Touch tablet to play IPTV, make video calls, and connect to the Internet. Since it has made its way to the FCC, one can only wonder whether the approval of such a device would result in it being released Stateside. The back end infrastructure still needs working on though, as Technicolor will need to find a US-equivalent of PCCW to get the whole thing up and running.
