Sprint has made good on their self-imposed deadline by launching out their own WiMAX network in San Francisco as well as the surrounding area before Christmas. From December 28th onwards, subscribers with WiMAX-enabled devices such as the Sprint Overdrive and HTC EVO 4G will be able to access Sprint’s 4G network in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Silicon Valley and other Bay Area cities. At press time, Sprint offers a $60 monthly plan for unlimited WiMAX service as well as its 4G laptop dongles or its Overdrive portable hotspot. Compatible smartphones (mostly from HTC) will also be able to join this party by signing up for a $10 enhanced data add-on. Faster connectivity, anytime, anywhere FTW! [Press Release]
