Developers who are busy working on Windows Phone apps probably won’t be too happy to hear that the digital rights management (DRM) security that is put in place by Microsoft to protect apps in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has been cracked. While the technology isn’t going to be made public, a white hat hacker has come up with a proof-of-concept program that can successfully pull any application from the Marketplace, remove the security and deploy it to an unlocked Windows Phone 7 device with a push of a button. Aside from that, you’re also able to save the cracked XAP file to your hard drive (presumably to keep it as a pet). All this fancy programming magic was done in six hours by one developer.

A video demonstration of the application, dubbed FreeMarketplace, has been made available after the jump, but fortunately neither the app nor the methodology is made public and it will not be released.
