CherryPal – now that isn’t a name that would come to your mind first and foremost if you are mulling over whether to purchase a tablet device or not (the iPad, or perhaps the iPad 2 might make much more sense). That doesn’t mean that they cannot try, with their upcoming effort being an Android-powered 7-inch tablet that will come with a 1024 × 600 resolution capacitive multi-touch display, which is a nice bump up from its predecessor’s lower resolution 800×480 resistive type display. Of course, with this jump in specifications, the price has also seen a twofold increase, residing between the $300 and $400 range, accompanied by front and back cameras (VGA and 3.0-megapixels, respectively) with AF lens and LED flash. Where processing power is concerned, you will find a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU underneath the hood alongside 512MB DDR RAM and 8GB to 16GB of onboard flash memory which can be further expanded thanks to a microSD memory card slot. Expect a hefty 4,200mAh battery inside to help keep things running for hours on end. Other hardware specifications include GPS support, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, HDMI and an unlocked GSM antenna which will be called to action whenever you aren’t hooked up via Wi-Fi. Android 2.2 is highly likely when it ships as CherryPal did mention that Froyo will be the minimum. More news on the CherryPal tablet is expected to roll in the coming weeks ahead, so stay tuned!
