Getting connected on-the-go seems to be the buzzword these days, so it is no surprise to see wireless carriers come up with various methods of keeping their customers connected. Remember the good old days where staying online using GPRS or EDGE proved to be a revelation? The advent of 3G blew everything out of the water, and with 4G/LTE speeds, things are only going to get better. Iway Mobile and Cellcom, the leading telecom company in Israel, have come together to deliver what is touted to be the next great technological advance in the automotive industry in the form of an in-car internet network. Known as the Comodo Console, it will be available exclusively in Israel first, although Iway is itching to market the console to other countries worldwide before the first half of the year is over.
The Comodo Console will sport a touchscreen display to keep up with the times, where it will also boast a speakerphone, a backup camera display, a GPS antenna and an always on cellular modem which lets you connect to a 3G wireless network – as long as there is reasonable coverage, of course. This connection lets you hook up to Internet radio stations such as Pandora, letting you listen to the tunes of your choice via streaming anytime, anywhere, while Comodo’s GPS navigation delivers real time updates on traffic while warning drivers whenever they are approaching dangerous terrain. We do wonder how they will partner with other mobile carriers in different countries since they aren’t on home ground, and how will it fare against the widening 4G reach Stateside?
