If you’ve always wanted to have a robotic eye, it’s good to know that you won’t have to travel to the future for the technology to become a cyborg. Scientists from the Northwestern University and University of Illinois have created the “eyeball camera” – a little camera that is small enough to fit onto the lens of your eyeball to give it camera-lens abilities. How does 3.5x optical zoom and the ability to take photographs sound to you? Eyeball cameras have been in the market for some time now, but it’s the ability to zoom that sets this gadget apart from the crowd. The best thing about the eyeball camera is that it doesn’t cost much to produce. If this technology becomes widespread, expect to be photographed unknowingly all the time. I guess it’ll be a reminder of not to do anything embarrassing in public. Perhaps we’ll soon see a model that records videos? Museums, art galleries and places that don’t allow cameras are going to have a hard time detecting these bad boys.
