The folks over at the FCC have managed to get their hands on LG’s upcoming Optimus Black P970 Android-powered smartphone, where it is touted to boast an extremely slim profile. Guess you might not want to put this in your back pocket of your jeans, because sitting down on it by accident might just put some unnecessary pressure on it, leading it to just crack somewhere? There is no concrete date as to when the Optimus Black P970 will be released, although having it appear on the FCC does suggest to a time which is sooner rather than later. Having won approval for GSM/EDGE frequencies 850 and 1900, alongside WCDMA 1900, aka Band II, there was no mention of WCDMA 850, aka Band V, which would then have eliminated any guessing opportunities as it would fit AT&T in the US perfectly. We do hope that mobile carriers Stateside will step forward and let the masses know that they will be carrying the LG Optimus Black P970. Bear in mind that this handset will also sport optional, changeable back plates that allows you to customize its appearance, so the name “Black” might not be self-descriptive after all if you decide to go all orange on this one. There is a pretty good chance that an additional extra cover (of unspecified color) might be thrown into the handset’s retail box to boot.
