We recently found out that multi-touch gestures were coming to the iPad in the latest iOS 4.3 beta and now word is going around that these gestures have been put in place because the future iPad will be losing its home button. This means that instead of having to press the button, you’ll use the new multi-touch gestures to navigate the home screen and also launch the app switcher.

Aside from that, it’s also been said that the dismissal of the home button will be happening to the iPhone too and reports hint that Apple’s employees are already testing iPads and iPhones with no home buttons on Apple’s campus.

Considering that Steve Jobs is known to dislike buttons, we can’t say it would be too surprising if such a move did materialize, and it’ll be interesting to see if the removal of the home button will enhance the user experience or make it more trouble some.
