Remember the electronic communication breakdown over at Egypt? Well, Google has decided to help the people by launching a special service which enables folks living in that part of the world to send Twitter messages by dialling a phone number followed by leaving a voicemail, since Internet access remains non-existent in the midst of anti-government protests. This service was co-developed by Google as well as Twitter’s engineers, where all voicemail will be automatically translated into an audio file message which is then sent on Twitter via the identifying tag #egypt. This workaround means there is no need for an Internet connection any more, and there are three phone numbers for folks to call and use the service.
