Thanks to recent reports and rumors, we already knew that 2011 would be a year where mobile payments would become increasingly important, especially with the increased adoption of NFC technology. Now there is some additional evidence that Google is pretty serious about the whole topic as PayPal’s VP of platform has gone for a change of scenery, heading over to Google’s campus. PayPal’s CTO made the announcement and has since introduced Matthew Mengerink as the new head of the platform team. Do you think that we’ll be using our mobile phones to pay for most of our purchases by the end of 2011?
