Despite all the fancy new phones being churned out, HTC’s HD2 is still one classic phone, though it’s probably held back by the old Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. If you’re a HD2 owner, chances are that you’ve dreamed of putting Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 7 operating system on it, and if you’re willing to get your hands slightly dirty, your wish has more or less come true. While it’s far from an official release, the Dark Forces Team has managed to fiddle with Windows Phone 7 and get it to install on the HD2 and the good news is that the ROM flashing isn’t too complicated either, not to mention that it’s also free. Of course, when it comes to installing unauthorized operating systems on your phone, we’d like to remind you to take the usual precautions and your carrier wouldn’t be too sympathetic if you somehow manage to turn your cool HD2 into an expensive paperweight.
