Apple iPadAccording to a recent survey done by the Knowledge Networks on how people use their iPads, they’ve discovered some interesting results that iPad content developers should be looking at. In their research of early iPad adopters, they’ve discovered that 76% of iPad owners use the iPad at least 5 days a week, while 55% of owners use the device every day. Not surprising, seeing how the tablet is slowly becoming a replacement for the computer which is a device that people use on a daily basis. But despite them using the iPad frequently, most of them aren’t willing to pay for content. There was a 6:1 ratio of people who preferred free ad-supported content over a pay model to access their content. And only 13% of iPad owners/users are willing to pay extra for an iPad-friendly version of a magazine or TV show they already pay for in standard format – which basically means they won’t pay for the same thing twice.

Could the higher prices of iPad content also be a deterring factor as well? After all iPad apps are known to be priced higher than their iPhone counterparts even if they do the same thing, but just in “HD”. Well, if developers do take these results to heart, we should expect cheaper or more free-apps in the future – which would lead to a win-win situation, after ads have been shown to make just as much money as paid content before. What do you think of the survey results, does it reflect the way you use your iPad?

Publisher’s note: “iPad users prefer free content?”. Come on, we ALL prefer free content ;)
