It goes without saying that folks who suffer from visual impairments tend to find reading measurements on rulers a tad difficult. After all, the problem lies in the metric system for this particular niche group, especially when dealing with centimetres and millimeters. While numbers on the ruler can be made bigger, the unit of measurement is fixed, making reading millimeters a problem if your sight encounters difficulty. The New Rule takes on a different role as it has bigger numbered, higher contrast measurement bars which a sliding pointer runs along, helping display the millimeter measurement as numbers on a wheel which is located within the slider’s housing. The arm within the slider will rest against the track and clicks each time it passes over a tooth in the track, delivering both tactile and audible feedback of each millimeter. Interesting, no?
