While Barnes & Noble probably didn’t intend for it to be that way, its NOOKcolor eBook reader is a popular device for hackers out there. When it comes to installing alternative operating systems, Ubuntu Linux is a popular choice, as the Nexus S recently found out. Now folks over at the XDA Developers Forum have decided to cram an Ubuntu installation into the NOOKcolor, and it looks good. As with most unofficial hacks, not everything is working perfectly as it’s a little laggy and there are some errors, but it’s still a nice achievement. Would you buy a NOOKcolor just to fiddle around with it?
