The Wintel dominance looks set to ride into the sun in a gradual decline, as Microsoft Windows has been announced to work with ARM-based processors down the road. Well, Nufront has already gone ahead with their 10″ ARM-powered laptop that sports a 2GHz processor, VGA and HDMI output, an SD memory card slot, a couple of USB ports and Ubuntu Linux as the operating system of choice. On the outside, most people would probably mistake this for a Wintel machine, but the real story can be found upon firing it up. It does look pretty thin and light, and ought to last the distance thanks to its low power chipset despite runnig on a 3-cell, 24Whr battery. While this Nufront offering is still a prototype, you can always hope on it being turned into an actual device for us consumers who are always on the lookout for something new.
