Ovi Store's popularity in China

According to a report posted on the official Nokia blog, it appears that Nokia’s Ovi Store is the most popular app store in China, beating out 13 other app stores that are available in the country. The research showed that 65.2% of the Chinese population in China preferred to download their apps from Nokia’s Ovi Store, while China Mobile’s Mobile Market comes in a close second at 57.7%. What’s surprising is that the iTunes App Store only has 9.4% of the country getting its apps from it. Considering how well the iPhone has been selling in China, it’s quite a mystery to why the App Store has such a low usage figure. Perhaps the Chinese don’t see a need for apps on their iPhones and that whatever it comes with is good enough? Regardless, this definitely shows Nokia’s influence on the country and the insane amount of consumers using Nokia phones over there.
