You might remember the PALRO robot from Fuji Soft that we brought to your attention a while back. The robot was recently upgraded with improved face recognition and now there is a possibility that we might see the robot being available outside of Japan sometime in the future, thanks to the company’s latest promotional video. In the video, you can see that the robot’s speech recognition and speech synthesis seems to support English, which makes it more accessible to folks around the globe.

The robot is currently only available to educational institutes for around $3,600, though hopefully it will be available to everybody in the future. The PALRO features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB RAM under the hood and is powered by Ubuntu Linux.
