The economy has been looking really bleak for some time already, even though official figures suggest otherwise. Well, those people working in a CD manufacturing plant at New Jersey will probably be dealt with another harsh hand as word trickles out that Sony will close down that major plant after 50 years in operation. The main reason behind that has had a pretty colorful history – digital music downloads. This means 300 workers will need to look elsewhere for their jobs, and certainly collecting tolls at the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco isn’t going to cut the mustard since they too, will be out of a job soon if the electronic tolling system comes to pass. Good luck guys, and perhaps Sony can make a quick buck out of this closure by numbering the final few CDs that roll off its production line as a collector’s item?
