We’d all love to have a death ray that we can use to threaten neighbors that irritate us. Now a young 19-year old from Indiana has come up with something that we’ve been dreaming of for a long time, and it cost him just $90 to make. He created his own “death ray” with an ordinary fiberglass satellite dish with 5,800 mirror tiles and when aligned correctly, can generate a heat spot of a few centimeters across. A video has been posted online, showing that this 5ft 9in tall dish that measures 42 inches across, is capable of melting steel, vaporizing aluminum, boiling concrete, turning dirt into lava and more. Sadly enough, the death ray met its end when it was destroyed in a shed fire. The creator isn’t disheartened, though, as he’s planning to create a new death ray that uses 32,000 mirrors this time. Is this the birth of a supervillain or superhero? Video after the jump.
