We do know that the Windows Phone 7 operating system will be receiving an update in the immediate future upon carrier approval, so why not stoke your interest further through the viewing of a video? This video was made available courtesy of Anandtech, and it does point towards faster load times for apps. Among the biggest differences in app load and resume times are realized in apps which pre-load plenty of graphics – and this would most definitely include games. A Samsung Taylor was used in the video, where it loaded Bejeweled 16.9 times faster, Fruit Ninja 6.2 seconds quicker, ilomilo taking just all of 5.1 seconds while Xbox Live Extras lets you jump in on the action 8.2 seconds earlier. There were no performance improvements metrics given for the web browser and JavaScript segments. Not only that, build 7.0.7353.0 of this update will also deliver copy and paste functionality alongside better marketplace search.
Update: Microsoft has heard your brickbats, and they are currently working on this phantom data phenomenon even as you read this. They haven’t, however, confirmed on whether their mobile operating system actually sucked up 2MB per hour as reported above. Here’s what they had to say about it, “We are investigating this issue to determine the root cause and will update with information and guidance as it becomes available.”
