INQ Cloud Touch shown off in video preview

The folks over at Tech Crunch were paid a visit by INQ who had something they wanted to show off – the INQ Cloud Touch, or something that will be more commonly known as the “Facebook phone”. (Yes, we know it’s merely an Android phone that’s filled with widgets and apps to provide a Facebook-centric experience but “Facebook phone” rolls off the tongue better). No specs were disclosed about the phone, but as evident in the video clip, it looks like a regular Android phone that has Facebook built right into the homescreen to make it extremely easy to access news feeds, status updates, friends, and the Facebook chat system. Facebook events are integrated into the Google Calendar for convenient synchronization, and the phone will come with Spotify preloaded. For users out of the US, the Spotify streaming service actually works, while for us it’ll just be a replacement for the default music player. Why anybody would get a phone dedicated to Facebook-ing is beyond our comprehension (the official Facebook app works just fine) but it’ll definitely pique some interest especially in the younger crowd. And if priced for the budget market, it’ll probably do fine though somehow the phone seems to echo the Microsoft Kin. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself. INQ will also be releasing a version of the phone with a slide-out keyboard called the Cloud Q in the future. Watch a video of the Cloud Touch in action after the break:
