Apple’s MacBook Air is enjoying the slim notebook scene at the moment, with its main competitor the Dell Adamo being axed. That being said, the MacBook Air might be facing some stiff competition soon as reports are in that Acer, Asus and Lenovo are all planning to launch some new ultra-thin notebooks in the second quarter of 2011 that will feature components that are more competitive that Apple’s MacBook Air, and also sell them at a lower price. Acer is expected to release its new Timeline notebooks; Asus will release its U-series slim models and Lenovo will offer new ultra-thin models of its IdeaPad. The prices of these notebooks are likely to be set below $1,000 in order to avoid the fate of Dell’s Adamo, which was over $2,000 when launched.
