The Daily, iPad newspaper, is still yet to be announced by Apple and News Corp but it has already garnered a competitor. The New York Times has just announced News.me a social news iPad app that seeks to rival The Daily, and from what we’ve seen so far, it looks pretty interesting. News.me is a social news app that gives you news based on news sites you follow, as well as news from your friends’ Twitter stream. Using advanced filtering techniques to check how many times stories are checked and shared, you can be sure to receive the most popular news available on the internet. In addition to reading news from all over the internet, News.me will allow you to access premium content from the New York Times. With easy ways to share your news via Facebook, Twitter, email and saving them on Instapaper, it looks like it might revolutionize how iPad users read their news in the future. No pricing or availability has been announced, but don’t expect it to be free. Let’s wait ’til tomorrow to see what The Daily has to offer to compete against News.me.
