It isn’t that often where the remote control of a particular device or product is more expensive than the item it is controlling, but the DIY RixRover turns that convention on its head. Being a creation of Quebecer Pierric Gimmig, this highly affordable remote controlled truck has been fitted with big knobby tires, although you will find that its ABS body has been removed and replaced by an Arduino board and a netbook. Since the car costs around $45, it goes without saying that the Arduino (circa $30) and Eee PC 1005-series netbook (costing around $200) is a whole lot more expensive, but at least it gives you the freedom of driving the car remotely over streaming video – surely money will buy you that kind of coolness factor, right?
