You might think that a site like YouTube will hardly need any more promotion or advertising, and that is true, but the big question is this – how do you monetize the site? Bandwidth and storage isn’t all that cheap after all, you know. Well, rumor has it that Google has decided to splash a cool $100 million buckeroos to enlist the help of celebrities for a new channel that intends to pull in some serious ad dollars at the same time. According to the New York Magazine, they claim that Google is in talks to bring on some famous faces so that new video content can be created, with the vision of a celebrity-bred YouTube channel offering three-minute long shows that are original. Hmmm, that isn’t too bad an idea, and it does offer another chance to pocket additional income if you’re a celeb. An online version of E!, perhaps?
