The Samsung Gem which was spotted some time ago might be released on Verizon’s network soon. The Samsung Gem website was recently updated with the Verizon logo, so it shouldn’t be too long before it goes up for sale. The entry level phone isn’t anything to shout about, but it looks like it will be geared towards entry level users looking for an Android phone to start off with – the folks who don’t need a high-end device like the ThunderBolt but are interested in dipping their toes into smartphone world. The Samsung Gem packs an 800MHz processor, a 3.2″ touchscreen display, 124MB of internal storage (microSD slot for expandable storage), a 3.2 megapixel camera and runs on Android 2.1. No word on pricing (don’t expect it to cost a bomb though) and date of availability though you can expect it to be soon.
