T Mobile officially announces the Samsung Galaxy S 4G

The 4G Samsung Galaxy S phone that was rumored to hit T-Mobile isn’t exactly news, but we now have an official announcement from T-Mobile and Samsung about the phone’s release date. In case you’re not up to speed, the Galaxy S 4G is an Android phone that will pack specs similar to the T-Mobile Vibrant – a 1GHz processor, a 4″ Super AMOLED screen, 16GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a front facing camera, Android 2.2, support for T-Mobile’s 4G network and the 2010 blockbuster movie – Inception, preloaded onto your device. No prices have been announced for the Galaxy S 4G yet, but you can expect the phone to be available in February. Who’s excited?

Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. HSPA+: is also known as Evolved High-Speed Packet Access. It is a mobile broadband protocol that was defined by the 3GPP standard, release 7. In Theory, the HSPA+ data rate can go up to 84 Mbps (Megabits per second) downstream (to the mobile), and 22Mbps upstream (back to the tower). These numbers are achieved by using multiple streams, so they should be considered theoretical and peak performance numbers. The HSPA+ specifications support up to 168Mbps of theoretical peak rate. Although many HSPA+ carriers call it 4G, it is very different from 4G LTE.

Samsung: Samsung is a South-Korean conglomerate which counts many subsidiaries like Samsung Electronics, which you probably know very well, but also Samsung Heavy Industries which builds ships, or Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Securities and many more. Samsung is responsible for an amazing 20% of South Korea's exports. In the consumer electronics world, Samsung has gone from being a company with a reputation for cheap products to becoming one of the most respected companies in the world.
