Acer has stated that they will be releasing their third-generation Timeline Sandy Bridge-based ultra-thin notebooks sometime next month, where it will come in a variety of sizes that start from 13″ and going all the way to 15″ – interestingly enough, every single model in that range will be outsourced to Compal Electronics. Needless to say, neither company has come forward with a comment on such whispers. Whispers abound that these new models will retail from $850 to $1,021, depending on the model that you decide to pick up, of course. This new Timeline order from Acer will make Compal the largest ODM notebook contractor for Acer this year, as they have to make sure their production lines are in top notch condition to handle nearly 50% of Acer’s total notebook orders for the year.
