Most of us know that talking on the phone or texting while driving is a huge no-no – never mind that you think that you have developed that ability to an extent where you are able to make calls while giving your all to the road, it is still a dangerous thing to do as you can never quite tell just how that lack of concentration, even a wee bit, might result in an oversight – and subsequently, an accident. Sprint has plans to counter that with a software known as Drive First, making it available to their Android-powered smartphones to “dumb” them down in order to encourage the handset’s owner to focus on driving instead. Drive First will be developed by Location Labs, where it will automatically keep the phone’s display locked and redirect all your incoming calls to your voicemail. Apart from that, all text messages will be blocked as well, where the sender will be alerted that the driver is unavailable, while making sure you can only access three key contacts and a trio of applications, where among them would be GPS-based navigation. Who knows, they might even tie up your phone to your bank account or credit card in the future, automatically crediting an appropriate amount in fines with each infraction on the road?
