Foxconn to shift part of operations to Brazil?Foxconn of Taiwan is one of the main contract manufacturers for parts in Apple devices and products, and while there are rumors of them slowing down production of components for Apple’s iPad 2, fret not about shortages concerning the famous tablet successor – it seems that Foxconn might actually send resources to South America, setting up a plant in Brazil instead to churn out Apple’s goods as a backup. This won’t be the first plant for Foxconn in that part of the world though, since it already has plants in Jundiai and Sao Paolo, where those manufacture goods for HP and Sony. The third plant will most probably be dedicated to just rolling out Apple products instead. Pretty smart move, as the labor in that part of the world is still relatively affordable compared to other developed countries.
