There is no doubt about the Kinect’s success. Ever since it was released last year, the motion control device designed for the Xbox 360 has been flying off the shelves like hot cakes and now it has been announced that the Kinect has set a new world record. In the first 60 days it was on sale, it sold an average of 133,333 units a day, reaching a grand total of 8 million units in those 2 months alone. And these figures were units that left the store shelves to go home with customers – not the shipments that were sent to retail stores. The Kinect beat the iPhone and iPad for the equivalent periods after launch, and as we all know – it’s no easy feat. These figures for the Kinect will be entered in to the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition book that will be available early next year. How many of you contributed to this Guinness-worthy statistic?
