NFC arriving on Windows Phone 7?

NFC isn’t a new technology, but it hasn’t been very popular globally either, especially in the US where it is hardly used at all. But since it was introduced in some Nokia phones and the Samsung Nexus S last year, it’s been slowly gaining traction and it seems like the must-have feature for future phones. The next generation BlackBerry is rumored to support it. And now, it looks like Windows Phone 7 will be joining the bandwagon. An unnamed handset manufacturer phones has been reported to be exploring the usage of NFC for their next WP7 device. Nokia has previously mentioned that they will be using NFC technology in all of their phones this year, and since Nokia will be using WP7 in their future phones – it’s no surprise if their first phone uses it. While it’s nice to have NFC on a phone, it’d be better if we could actually make use of it. Here’s to hoping for more NFC-enabled outlets for us to use our phones with.
