A professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Raffaello D’Andrea recently released some video footage of some quadrocopters he had been working on. Based on the Hummingbird Quadrotor by Ascending technologies customized with new controls and electronics, he managed to program the Quadrocopter into juggling a ball either by itself, with another Quadrocopter or with the professor himself. Words fail to describe how amazing these juggling robots are – hit the break to catch it in action, and then hit replay again just to make sure there are no tricks involved. With robots knowing how to juggle balls with such accuracy I can imagine robots being used to catch people or objects falling out of buildings in the future.
