Sony already has five production plants that are located in the middle to southern part of Japan that has been affected by supply shortages of materials and components, their Kanazawa LCD TV production plant which is in the Aichi prefecture will also be affected by shortages of components and materials, and might see the reduction or suspension of production. This has led Sony to mull over the decision of transferring some production to its overseas plants, and it seems that shareholders at Foxconn will be smiling the most since they are expected to be the largest beneficiary. Production levels at the Kanazawa plant are not significant, but the plant does produce high-end larger-size models including 3D TVs. Our thoughts currently go out to the people of Japan as they attempt to rebuild their country from the ashes.
