Twitter will be turning five next week – and it is a time of reflection and thinking about just how far they’ve come from their early days. Taking three years, two months, and one day for Twitter to hit 1 billion tweets, that figure is achieved in just a week these days. Other important statistics for the secret geek in you – Twitter gets an average of 460,000 new accounts created each day over the past month, while an average of 140 million tweets were posted per day. Boasting a growing workforce of 400 employees, where 50 of them were hired since January this year, it does seem as though Twitter is here to stay although the ceiling for their growth has yet to be determined. Do you think the microblogging site has a lot more mileage in its legs compared to Facebook, or are they two totally different creatures altogether?
