The Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) is currently the tallest building located in the Western hemisphere, and the building will work with Israel-based Pythagoras Solar to install transparent yet energy efficient windows which will also be able to generate solar power in the process – talk about doing its bit to lower the monthly power bill! They are working on a pilot project that intends to deliver on the building’s renewable energy and energy efficiency improvement goals, where south facing windows of the Willis Tower’s 56th floor will use an integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solution which can expand to a surface area that paves the way for more than two megawatts of solar power generation. If this works out well, it would be great for the planet, and perhaps it is time to invest in some Pythagoras Solar stock.
