Amped Wireless has just announced their latest UA600EX High Power Wireless-N 600mW Professional Series USB Adapter that will target both indoor and outdoor use, where it relies on its directional antenna to work in tandem with a wireless amplifier which are capable of enhancing range and strength of signal by a significant margin – how does up to four times the normal range sound to you? Of course, take that with a pinch of salt since it is a company claim, so we expect real world testing to offer better than standard performance, albeit muted compared to what was claimed.

Meant to see action in buildings, RVs, boats and other normally-challenging environments, the UA600EX intends to enable PCs, Macs and other compatible mobile devices to hook up to 2.4GHz 802.11b, g, or Wi-Fi N networks, while sporting a weatherproof enclosure and indoor and outdoor mounting kits.

The USB adapter itself comes with a 26.5-foot weatherproof dual-connector USB 2.0 cable that lets you connect to a computer or USB-equipped router, where it will receive the necessary juice to keep it running from there. Although users are able to use only one USB connector for basic operation, a couple can see action to achieve maximum performance when the situation calls for it. Expect to fork out around $100 thereabouts (prices vary depending on the vendor you purchase it from) if you’re interested.
