Smoking is more or less outlawed in most public places for many countries now, including night clubs and pubs, so for smokers out there, you will obviously need to find a way to make use of those ashtrays and cigarette packs. With a little bit of enterprising spirit, you can come up with this rather neat looking cigarette controlled synthesizer which won’t require you to tar your lungs as you use it. The Ziggybox comes with optical sensors which will know whenever there is a cigarette butt placed on any of the ashtray’s holders, where it will also go ahead and turn on various elements of the sound to match. Any movement to open or close the cigarette packs will also do its bit in controlling and manipulating the sound. The Ziggybox, as it is fondly known, will function as a MIDI controller for the notebook that will in turn run Ableton Live music creation software.
