You might not be familiar with Epsilon, but you’re definitely familiar with TiVo. Epsilon recently informed that TiVo as well as other companies who use their email communications services, actually had an unauthorized person from outside their company access files which included e-mail addresses of some TiVo customers. According to Epsilon, the information that was obtained was limited to first name and/or email addresses only, so we will just have to take their word for it. Epsilon, however, does not have access to service information or credit card details, so you can be sure that any personally identifiable information remains secure. Apart from TiVo, other companies such as JP Morgan Chase and Kroger were also impacted by this breach of security, with Epsilon promising that they will be conducting a full investigation.
