Aerospace giant Honeywell intends to make air travel even safer than it is already today, which is using technology that will assist airplanes in landing in very cloudy conditions. This could very well prove to be a knockout blow against weather-related delays that have plagued the aviation system all these years. The technology is known as Enhanced Visual System/Synthetic Vision System (EVS/SVS), where it was specially designed to offer pilots with all the information they require to land safely, never mind that there are still clouds as low as 100 feet off the ground. With a system that delivers a better sense of situational awareness to pilots, it might just make air travel less of a pain with all the unexpected delays (insurance companies would be well pleased with this), especially when one is flying into areas with “aggressive” terrain such as mountainous destinations like Aspen, Colorado. Of course, EVS technology will let pilots attempt to land in cloudy conditions safely by looking at their instrument panels, where their eyes will be greeted by a graphical representation of an area which resembles a sunny day – the wonders of technology!
