The HTC Sensation is said to be the next flagship model where Android-powered smartphones from HTC is concerned, and with its release in London, UK a fortnight ago, word on the street has it that HTC might just release another Android-powered smartphone in due time, known as the Doubleshot. Now this is definitely a name that will perk you up during your mornings, knowing that you have one of the better and more powerful handsets in the market right in the palm of your hands.

The HTC Doubleshot will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well as HTC Sense 3.0 right out of the box, where the handset itself will also come with a full QWERTY keyboard – pundits are betting that this will most likely be a slide-out form factor. As for its display, it will come with an 800 x 480 WVGA resolution, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, a 6-megapixel camera with HDR support (that’s one of the fancier resolution counts where a camera is concerned), and an 1.2GHz processor – could it be dual core, we won’t really know until something official comes out from the horse’s mouth.

It is speculated that the Doubleshot could very well be the successor to the Desire Z or T-Mobile G2, although if the rumored specifications do prove to be correct, it might just be another flagship HTC model that overtakes the Desire Z in terms of popularity stakes. Well, if it ships with Gingerbread right out of the box, that alone should make it more than a signal for you to start saving up.
