If you love all things gadgets, and wish that you can lay your hands on the latest and greatest devices before it even hits the market, then we would suggest you check out whether there are any vacancies over at the FCC or not. Sure, it might seem rather boring to sort through manuals and check out schematic drawings of an upcoming handset, but such pains are offset by the joy of holding a particular new phone in your hands – such as the Motorola XT316 which has recently dropped by the FCC for its approval before it is made available to the masses.

This will be an Android 2.2 Froyo-powered smartphone that comes in a candybar form factor, complete with a full QWERTY keypad which should not be too unfamiliar to BlackBerry users. The device itself does seem to resemble the Motorola Droid Pro, but unlike the Droid Pro, this one will come with a 2.8″ display that is considerably smaller than the 3.1″ display on the Droid Pro.

Strangely enough, the XT316 might have received FCC approval, but it will be headed towards the Chinese market instead of those of us living Stateside since it has WCDMA support for 850 and 2100 bands – that means no full support for 3G networks in the US. Can anyone say bummer? This would have made a decent mid-range Android phone…
