Critical information such as the NGP‘s official name (NGP is tentative and short for Next Generation Portable), pricing, release time and official launch games have yet to be unveiled. Don’t fret, a reliable source from VG247 says that all will be made clear at this year’s E3 video game expo in Los Angeles in June. We’ve  heard rumblings that the NGP is going to be very expensive and rumors that say the system will be priced accordingly against Nintendo’s latest 3DS. Sony’s Jack Tretton recently said the NGP would not make a global launch this year due to component shortages caused by the Japanese earthquake. Then another Japanese Sony rep refuted Tretton’s statement by saying the earthquake has had no impact on the NGP’s scheduled launch later this year. We don’t know who to believe. So we’ll keep our mouths shut and wait until we hear something concrete directly from Sony. If the NGP’s global release is still on track, then E3 is the perfect show to showcase all the games being prepared. My worst fear is that Sony will price the PSP at $400 and games at $50. That might just turn me off.
