T3 R3 prototype with Galaxy Tab

T3 Motion Inc has just announced their new their R3 hybrid electric consumer vehicle prototype will feature Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablets in their dashboards. The economic hybrid vehicle will make use of the Galaxy Tab for GPS navigation, live traffic information, stay connected (email/IM etc) and running other Android apps (Angry Birds while waiting for the red light?). Fortunately, the vehicle’s speedometers and fuel gauge won’t be displayed on the tablet – in the event you forget to bring the tablet out with you or it’s with someone else, you’ll still be able to drive the vehicle. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a tablet used in this way, but it’s nice to see vehicle manufacturers seeing the potential of such devices. Hit the break to watch a video of the R3 in action:
