The news never stops when it comes to the Nintendo Wii’s successor. At Ubergizmo, we’re all drooling over what Nintendo has in store, but for now we’ll just have to settle for the bits of scrap news that’s trickling in. French site 01net is reporting that the controller on Nintendo’s next console will have a 6-inch touchscreen, with the standard L/R triggers and D-pad, and “other buttons” flanking it on the left and right side. The Wii sensor bar is apparently integrated into the controller and there is said to be a camera on the front. To make the comparison easier to understand, the controller is said to be like an iPad with buttons.
Destructoid says that 01net accurately provided some details on the NGP before info on it leaked out, but I’m a little skeptic of the sensor bar inside of the controller and the camera. Why would a home console controller need a camera? It makes sense if the sensor bar is getting an upgrade to include a camera to like the Kinect, but that’s if the sensor bar is still attached near the TV.
