Since tablets are all the rage these days, most folks might find it difficult to find a perfect balance of price and performance, and the $280 ViewSonic gTablet doesn’t make things any easier since we now have word that someone managed to overclock it to hit 1.4GHz instead of the stock 1GHz. Well, it seems that no additional cooling options are required so that the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor does not experience a meltdown in your hands. All that’s required are some intestinal fortitude, a custom ROM, custom kernel, and overclocking software. Of course, it is theoretically possible to push the chip to 1.6GHz, but bear in mind that it will only run at 1.4GHz. The downside to this? It might not be stable in the long run of things, and your battery life is going to take a serious hit.
