Microsoft can’t seem to leave Sony alone, can they? The competitive streak between both companies is extremely strong to say the least, as Sony continues to grapple with the issue of their PlayStation Network being down and having its credit card details compromised to hackers, but Microsoft isn’t exactly playing the role of the Pope here – they too, have recently experienced a security failure of sorts, sending out warning to players concerning a phishing scam that plagues Modern Warfare 2.
According to Microsoft, “Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2. We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”
Of course, it isn’t that bad when you compare it to what is happening over at the PlayStation Network, but those who still engage in Modern Warfare 2 might just want to be extra careful – bear in mind that you should not even respond to Xbox Live messages with personal information, pointing to the fact yet again that prevention is better than cure.
