Guitar Center workshop

For those of you with a Mac computer or an iPad tablet running GarageBand and are interested in making music but don’t know the difference between a quaver and a crotchet, you’re in luck. Apple and Guitar Center have announced a partnership to give wannabe musicians the chance to learn how to create music with GarageBand.

Starting this Saturday, all of Guitar Center’s 216 stores will host workshops that will teach attendees how to use the simple and powerful app to unleash their musical creativity. The workshops will take place in a four week rotation, every Saturday, with each week’s workshop covering a different aspect of recording a song. This week, May 7, will introduce attendees to Signal Flow and Microphone Techniques. Future lessons include Virtual Instruments and Loops, Effects and Mixing and Publishing.

While the lessons are catered to using GarageBand, you can be sure the same principles that you learn about recording will apply other methods of recording as well. Head over to the Guitar Center website for more information. And because spaces are limited, make sure you get there on time or call up Guitar Center to save you a spot. How many of you out there are GarageBand musicians? Drop us a comment with a link to share your creations with us!
