Not too long after we heard that Nokia has several Windows Mango phones in development, along comes HTC CEO Peter Chou to reiterate the fact that the Taiwanese company is also working on their own range of Windows Mango-powered smartphones. Now this does not come as a surprise at all to us, since HTC already sells Windows Phone 7 handsets, although their bread and butter sales tend to come from the Android-powered segment instead. Still, this is a good example of not putting all of their eggs in a single basket, no?
Microsoft intends for the range of new features that will be available via Mango is a first and crucial step in making sure Windows Phone software is able to help bridge the gap, and perhaps even catch up with what Google and Apple has done on the smartphone platform.
Chou said that “we have some Windows Mango phones. We are very committed to Windows phone products.” Let’s hope to see the fruit of their commitment hit the market soon – the more, the merrier, and consumers will be the one who benefit most as companies try to outdo one another to deliver the best.
